I heard a story on the radio about a family of kids whose mother had died. I started to write this song for them to let them know that no matter where she is, their mother's love is always there. I couldn't get through it because it was just too emotional. So I changed some of the lyrics so that it applied as much to living Moms as one who is not. I think my Mom had a lot to do with it too. I realized how much she loved me just because she had to — she's my Mom! It made me feel good. I sang this song to my Mom as a surprise at her 75th Birthday party.
When I was born she kept me warm
As I grew she helped me through
Changed my pants, taught me to dance
Mama's love
When this world got too large
She taught me to stay in charge
When I felt small she stood me tall
Mama's love
Chorus:
Mama's love is like the sun
Like the moon and stars above
There's one thing I'll always have
Mama's love
(Instrumental)
Mama's love is always there
I'll always know she cares
There's one thing I'll always have
Mama's love
Taught me how to chose my fights
Taught me wrong, she taught me right
And I love her with all my might
Mama's love
Chorus:
Mama's love is like the sun
Like the moon and stars above
There's one thing I'll always have
Mama's love
Mama's love is always there
I'll always know she cares
There's one thing I'll always have
Mama's love
There's one thing I'll always have
My Mama's love
